BASIC RULES FOR GOOD HEALTH

It is now the New Year and many of you will be considering some special diet to lose those pounds that you put on during the Holidays. Instead of going on some "crash" diet, consider changing your eating habits permanently to get to your desired weight. Here are some good tips:

Do Not Overeat

Small meals eaten only when hungry are the most healthy practice. Breakfast is considered by many to be the most important meal of the day. If you are one of those who does not feel hungry in the morning, a very simple rule to follow is this: never eat more at dinner than you ate at breakfast; i.e., if you ate no breakfast, eat no dinner. I can guarantee you will be hungry the next morning. Eat in a calm and peaceful environment. It is better not to eat when you are upset or uptight. It is also better not to eat while watching television. Eat slowly and stop when you are full.

Control Your Fats

To lose weight you must watch the fat content of your food. The average American derives 35-50% of their calories from fat. This figure should be closer to 20-30%. Eat foods that are high in fiber not highly refined and low in fat. It is also a good idea to balance the amount of protein and carbohydrate at each meal to prevent high glucose levels and large insulin releases. Limit your heavy creams, gravy, red meat, cheese, pastries and foods fried in fat or grease. Eat natural foods whenever possible.

Rest and Relaxation

Learn to get complete relaxation and rest to allow the body its required time to recuperate from the daily stress we place it under. Allow yourself 7-8 hours of sleep at night.

Exercise

Regular exercise is probably the one single missing ingredient after poor diet that causes poor health in our society. Make a contract with yourself today to get into a habit of exercise and, if possible, combine it with fresh air and sunshine. If you set any kind of a priority on your health, then set your highest priority on regular exercise and start now!

Most importantly, make sure that you are being adjusted on a regular basis. This will help your nervous system, which controls every organ and system in the body. It is especially important to get adjusted when you are ill. Your body will recover faster.

Yours in health,
Lynne Sullivan, D.C.

CHIROPRACTIC: The Natural Way to Health

CHIROPRACTIC: Grows On Results. It is a natural method by which to keep strong and healthy, It has grown on the basis of performance and results. Thousands have been restored to robust health and vigorous activity through the application of its principles.

CHIROPRACTIC: Helps Nature. It works by natural means. It puts nothing new or artificial into the body and does not remove any natural gland or organ. Chiropractic adjustments release life forces within the body and allow nature to work in a normal manner.

CHIROPRACTIC: Works As Nature Does. Chiropractic works in man just as nature works in plants. If a plant is withering from lack of water, it may not blossom forth immediately in all of its glory, following just one drink of water. In Chiropractic, it is impossible to predict the exact number of adjustments any given patient will require. No two people are exactly alike. Time is the essential element in getting well.

CHIROPRACTIC: Has An Impressive Record. The results chiropractic has received in restoring sick people to health merits your consideration, investigation and trial. It's not true to say you are doing everything possible unless chiropractic is included.

"He who has no time for his health today may have no health for his time tomorrow."

Basic Chiropractic 101: Prerequisite to Health

Chiropractic is based on the natural, inborn laws of the body. It's as natural as the sun rising and setting every single day.

The brain is the master controller of all functions in our body. It directs every muscle, tissue and gland to do every single thing our body is supposed to do every moment of every day. The brain communicates with the body through the spinal cord, which is where nerves originate and branch out just like roots from a tree. Every muscle, tissue and gland is integrally plugged into what we call the central nervous system. Our life force (nerve flow) travels through this system, providing the body with the ability to function at its optimum level. The spinal column, which protects this core system, must be in proper biomechanical alignment to allow the nerves free and clear access to all corners of the body.

A doctor of chiropractic specializes in finding misalignments in the spine because, no matter how simple or severe they may be, misalignments put pressure on nerves, thus interfering with nerve flow.  Interference will cause your body to function at levels below your optimum.

Each and every nerve is assigned to provide proper function to each and every part of our bodies. When nerve impulses and messages are cut off by a spinal misalignment, a certain part of our body will not function as it should. Subsequently, that "part" WILL deeriorate and you probably womn't even notice until you are in pain.  Regular chiropractic care keeps the messages travelling properly through the body as nature intended.

Please call for as appointment right now and find out that chiropractic is the gentle, safe health care you've been seeking for lasting health . . . naturally.

HEALTH

"Chiropractic emphasizes the maintenance of health and the prevention of illness, thereby delaying or totally avoiding the type of invasive intervention for which modern medicine has developed such a great capacity and willing reputation. This commitment to utilize the inherent recuperative powers of the body as the first line of defense against disease distinguishes chiropractic from any other profession. The Doctor of Chiropractic focuses not on the symptoms of disease, but the spinal cause, thereby seeking long term, if not permanent, improvements for the patient".

Sid Williams D.C., BS.
President, Life University School of Chiropractic
