The
Focus of Chiropractic
Many people have the misconception the chiropractic is a “treatment
for neck and back pain”. Although we’ve helped many people with
these conditions, chiropractic is much more. We are not “back” doctors,
we are nerve doctors. The focus of chiropractic care is on the integrity
of your nervous system. By adjusting the spine and removing nerve
interference we are able to help improve our patient’s overall health.
Here are some common questions that I am frequently asked.
Who
can chiropractic help?
Improved
nerve communications between your brain and your body can help everyone.
So, if you have subluxation (misalignment of the bones of the spine),
you could be a good candidate for chiropractic care. Modified adjusting
approaches can help children, the elderly or those with special
needs.
How
long will it take?
This
depends on many factors, such as your age, the length of time you’ve
had the problem, your activities etc. Everyone responds differently.
Although most people notice positive changes within the first few
days, it can take many months to actually correct the cause of your
condition. This is similar to wearing braces to straighten teeth.
Will
I have to go for the rest of my life?
How
much care a patient chooses to receive is always up to them. After
a patient’s initial corrective care, many chose to participate in
our wellness club. They look at their chiropractic care similar
to other good health habits, such as eating well, exercising and
brushing your teeth.
What
if my insurance doesn’t cover chiropractic?
Insurance
companies are very short sided. Many of our patients that enjoy
long term chiropractic care actually use their insurance less, because
they are healthier and don’t need to see a medical doctor. One of
the unique factors of our office is that we offer special rates
for patients with little or no chiropractic benefits. Most of these
patients place great value on their health and their chiropractic
care. Many people easily spend $5 per day at Starbucks. Our wellness
fees are about the same amount.
