The
magazine based this years index in four categories: job growth,
salary potential, education level, and room for innovation. Job
growth for Chiropractors looks solid, especially because people
are becoming more interested in alternative holistic health-care.
Health insurance companies are also beginning to recognize the benefits,
which bodes well for the practices respect and reputation.
When
I was in college I changed my mind every year about my career. At
first I wanted to be a scientist, but after a year of Chem I-A and
lab I knew that I couldnt be in a lab all day. I could never
seem to get the experiment to come out the right color. I blew things
up when they werent supposed to, it was miserable. The second
year I thought about teaching. Although its a wonderful profession,
teachers worked too hard for their compensation. The next year I
was going to be a physical therapist. I worked in the PT department
at Davis for a year. It was rewarding helping people, but we never
got to make any decisions about what was wrong, or what kind of
care the patients needed. Then I hurt my back playing basketball.
Traditional medical treatment was not helpful and it was suggested
that I quit playing. A 21 year old athlete does not want to hear
that. It was then that I began chiropractic care. In a short time
I was back on the court, and after graduation, I started Chiropractic
College.
Ive
been a chiropractor now for almost 20 years I couldnt think
of anything that I would have enjoyed more. Except maybe being a
professional athlete, but being female and 52, that
would have been difficult. The patients that Ive worked with
have been wonderful, and Ive seen health improvements that
have been amazing. Ive been able to have my own business,
set my own hours and work with some wonderful people.
I
would highly recommend chiropractic as a career for anyone, especially
for women. If you would like more information about becoming a chiropractor,

Yours
in health,
