Chiropractic Named #4 of the Top 10 Jobs in the US

Chiropractic has been ranked as the 4th best job to pursue for the next five years, according to Fast Company Magazine. The top 10 jobs according to rank are:

  1. Personal finance adviser
  2. Medical scientist
  3. Computer software engineer
  4. Chiropractor
  5. Environmental enginee
  6. Biochemist and biophysicist
  7. Sales manager
  8. Epidemiologist
  9. Computer systems analyst
  10. Athlete

The magazine based this year’s index in four categories: job growth, salary potential, education level, and room for innovation. Job growth for Chiropractors looks solid, especially because people are becoming more interested in alternative holistic health-care. Health insurance companies are also beginning to recognize the benefits, which bodes well for the practice’s respect and reputation.

When I was in college I changed my mind every year about my career. At first I wanted to be a scientist, but after a year of Chem I-A and lab I knew that I couldn’t be in a lab all day. I could never seem to get the experiment to come out the right color. I blew things up when they weren’t supposed to, it was miserable. The second year I thought about teaching. Although it’s a wonderful profession, teachers worked too hard for their compensation. The next year I was going to be a physical therapist. I worked in the PT department at Davis for a year. It was rewarding helping people, but we never got to make any decisions about what was wrong, or what kind of care the patient’s needed. Then I hurt my back playing basketball. Traditional medical treatment was not helpful and it was suggested that I quit playing. A 21 year old athlete does not want to hear that. It was then that I began chiropractic care. In a short time I was back on the court, and after graduation, I started Chiropractic College.

I’ve been a chiropractor now for almost 20 years I couldn’t think of anything that I would have enjoyed more. Except maybe being a professional athlete, but being female and 5’2”, that would have been difficult. The patients that I’ve worked with have been wonderful, and I’ve seen health improvements that have been amazing. I’ve been able to have my own business, set my own hours and work with some wonderful people.

I would highly recommend chiropractic as a career for anyone, especially for women. If you would like more information about becoming a chiropractor, visit Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward.

Yours in health,
